Support Groups
Sometimes just being able to share thoughts and concerns with people who
really understand helps patients cope with illness and changes in their lives.
Iredell Health System provides or sponsors the following support groups.
Living With Cancer
Meets on the 4th Tuesday of each week in the hospital's One West Living
Room. Cancer patients and a guest are invited to attend for fellowship,
information and lunch. There is no charge. To sign up, contact Rev. Thomas
Sherrod, chaplain, at 704-878-5661, extension 3414.
Look Good, Feel Better
American Cancer Society program that helps women who are undergoing cancer
treatment learn to cope with the appearance-related side effects of treatment
and to regain a sense of self-confidence and control over their lives.
women will learn skin care and makeup applications as well as demonstrations
on hair/wig techniques. Light refreshments. Each registered participant
will receive a free cosmetics kit (valued at $250) at the sesson.
Meets quarterly, 10:00 AM to Noon, at Beth & Company, 114 South Center
Street, Statesville. Participants must register by calling Beth Duel,
RN, at 704-878-7472. There is no charge.
Stroke Support Group
To help stroke patients, families and friends in the aftermath of a stroke.
Meets at 2:00 PM on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at Wesley Memorial United
Methodist Church, 825 Wesley Drive, Statesville (across from YMCA). For
information, call Celeste Stevens, RN BSN PCCN, at 704-878-7679. There
is no charge.
