Confused About Health Insurance And The Affordable Health Care Act?… You Are Not Alone

(Statesville, NC – November 24, 2014) – Iredell Health System and Piedmont Benefits are partnering to help area residents understand and sign up for health insurance. The next program will be Tuesday, December 2, 2014, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Selma Burke Community Center, located at 781 Agape Drive in Mooresville.

"We understand that there are a lot of questions regarding the Affordable Health Care act and the insurance offerings," said Ed Rush, CEO of Iredell Health System.

"By partnering with Iredell Health System we can answer questions as well as aid people in signing up for appropriate and affordable health insurance," said Geoff Ricks, President of Piedmont Benefits.

Open enrollment for 2015 health coverage began November 15 and will go until February 15, 2015. If residents have not enrolled by the deadline, they will not be able to purchase government health coverage unless they quality for a special enrollment period.

If you enrolled in a government plan in 2014, the coverage ends on December 31, 2014. In order to continue your health insurance you must renew your current plan or choose a new plan by the February 15, 2015 deadline.

If you want a plan to start January 1, 2015, you must renew by December 15, 2014. Anyone who does not have health coverage during 2015 may have to pay a penalty.
