Iredell Health System Staff to Wear New Uniforms

Next year, patients and visitors will see Iredell Health System staff wearing uniforms with colors specific to their areas of service. The purpose behind this change is for patients to know who is entering their room and what service they can expect from that caregiver.

Beginning January 2, nurses will wear all white, Caribbean blue or a combination of the two colors. Nursing assistants will wear pewter. Other departments will transition beginning March 1, 2016. Staff members participated by selecting the color specific to the area they work.

“The use of departmental colors is really a return to the past. We used to only have nurses (and other clinical staff) in specific colors but had gotten away from that over the years,” said Becky Quate, RN, Vice President of Nursing and Patient Services at IHS. “We are very pleased to see our clinical staff members understand and embrace the focus of our patients and family members knowing which discipline each worker is in. This change will definitely help promote a safe culture for patients, family, and other staff which is something that we continually strive for.”

Charts will be available in the Hospital to show which department is wearing each color.
