Iredell Health System will host Karyn Buxman, RN, MSN, CSP, CPAE, keynoter,
neurohumorist and author, to honor all area nurses during National Nurses Week.
"Amazed and Amused: How to Survive and Thrive as a Healthcare Professional,"
will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015. The program will be
held at the Continuing Education Auditorium at Mitchell Community College
located at 701 West Front Street in Statesville.
"This is our gift to the community during National Nurses Week,"
said Becky Quate, RN, Vice President of Nursing and Patient Care Services
for Iredell Health System. "We wanted to honor all nurses by providing
a speaker that is not only extremely funny, but also a thought leader
in the field and who is an effective communicator and leader."
Buxman's mission is to empower people and improve global health and
business through humor. She is a neurohumorist, someone who researches
the neurobiology of humor and then translates the findings for others.
She shows how people can harness applied humor to heal and empower themselves.
Key messages include "Humor is power," and "it is more
important to see funny, than to be funny."
Buxman has authored six books, she is published in peer-reviewed journals,
and she is an inductee into the Speaker Hall of Fame. To learn more, go
Healthcare Professionals are invited and there is no cost or registration required.
