The Birth Place at Iredell Enacts New Security System

The Birth Place at Iredell Memorial Hospital has enacted Controlled Access — new security protocols with to help keep new moms and their infants even safer.

These are the steps for Controlled Access:

  • When you are admitted to the hospital, the nursing staff will ask you for a code word that you need to relay to family and friends you would like to visit.
  • The Front Lobby (near the Pink Tea Room) elevators will no longer access the 3rd floor- all visitors to The Birth Place will have to use the North Wing elevators to reach the 3rd floor.
  • A security attendant will greet visitors asking for patient name and code word. The visitor will be given a visitor's sticker and allowed access to The Birth Place when the accurate code word is given. We will limit visitors to 4 people at a time.

Only YOUR children will be allowed to visit with you. We encourage you to have extended family and friends visit when you get home.
