Iredell Memorial Hospital has earned the highest rating possible for patient
safety in a new national report. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades,
released today, assign A, B, C, D, and F letter grades to hospitals nationwide.
This is the fourth consecutive time the Leapfrog Group has awarded an
“A” grade to Iredell Memorial. It is also the only hospital
in Iredell County to earn the “A” grade for Spring 2017.
Iredell Memorial, part of Iredell Health System, constantly updates protocols
and follows nationally accepted guidelines to guard against infection
“Earning this recognition four times in a row is a remarkable achievement,”
said Iredell Health System CEO Ed Rush. “It reflects the hard work,
consistent attention to detail and patient-focused care which our staff
delivers every day.”
The Leapfrog Group is a nonprofit organization committed to driving quality,
safety, and transparency in the U.S. healthcare system. Developed under
the guidance of an expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses
30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B,
C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year.
“Hospitals that earn top marks nationally in the Leapfrog Hospital
Safety Grade have achieved the highest safety standards in the country,”
said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “That
takes commitment from every member of the hospital staff, who all deserve
thanks and congratulations when their hospitals achieve an ‘A’
The Leapfrog Safety Grades are calculated by top patient safety experts,
