Four new nursing directors have taken key leadership roles at Iredell Memorial
Hospital in recent months. They will oversee operations in their units,
help to shape policy, and ensure the best care possible for patients.
“We are excited to welcome four highly qualified and experienced
nursing directors to our Iredell Health System family," said Vice
President of Nursing and Patient Services Dr. Becky Quate. "They
play a crucial role maintaining the high quality of care our patients
have come to expect.”
Kathryn Lail, MSN, RN – Director, Critical Care Unit Kathryn Lail
brings a strong record of leadership to Iredell Memorial Hospital. She
was previously the Administrative Director of Cardiology Services and
Assistant Vice President of Cardiovascular Services at Frye Regional Medical
Center in Hickory. She was also the Director of the Intensive Care Unit,
Telemetry, Cath Lab and Dialysis at Caldwell UNC Healthcare in Lenoir.
Lail earned her Master of Science degree in Leadership at Mountain State
University in Charleston, West Virginia. She also earned her Associate
of Science in Nursing from Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory
and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina
Wayne Plummer, MSHA, BSN, RN - Director of Surgical Services/Outpatient
Surgery/Post-anesthesia Care Unit Wayne Plummer comes to Iredell Memorial
Hospital from University Medical Center Brackenridge in Austin, Texas,
where he was an OR Circulator Nurse, Clinical Nursing Supervisor of Surgical
Services and Case Manager. He also served as the OR Nurse Supervisor at
Baylor Scott and White All Saints Medical Center.
Plummer earned his Associate of Science in Nursing from Ulster County
Community College in Stone Ridge, New York. He also holds his Bachelor
of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration
degree from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Rhonda Ruppe, BSN, RN, CEN – Director of Nursing, Emergency Department
Rhonda Ruppe first came to Iredell Memorial Hospital in 1997 and has been
an Assistant Director of Emergency Services since 2005. She was previously
a charge nurse at Spartanburg Regional Hospital in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Ruppe holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Gardner Webb University
in Boiling Springs, South Carolina and has been a Board Certified Emergency
Nurse since 2007. She is currently enrolled in the Master of Science in
Nursing Administration program at the University of North Carolina at
Chelsea Coley, MHA, BSN, RN - Director, Oncology and Renal Care Chelsea
Coley holds an Associate of Nursing Degree from Cabarrus College of Health
Sciences, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Winston-Salem State University
and a Master of Science in Health Administration from Pfeiffer University.
Coley has experience in progressive care cardiovascular telemetry, caring
for patients who require cardiac monitoring. She was previously the Clinical
Supervisor and Patient Care Coordinator for the Internal Pulmonary Unit
at Carolinas Healthcare System. Coley has also mentored her colleagues
as a resource nurse and helped to train staff on medical technologies
including Canopy and Epic.
