Iredell Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center Receives Center of Distinction, Center of Excellence Awards for 5th and 4th Years

Iredell Health System is pleased to announce that the Iredell Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center has been named a recipient of the Center of Distinction Award for the fifth consecutive year, as well as the Robert A. Warriner III, MD, Center of Excellence Award for its fourth year by Healogics, Inc., the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services.

The Iredell Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center is the only center in Iredell County to receive these awards every year since the center opened. The prestigious Center of Distinction Award is given to centers that achieve outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including a patient satisfaction rate of 92 percent or higher, and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 31 median days, among other quality standards. The Center of Excellence Award is only given to centers that have earned the Center of Distinction Award for a minimum of two consecutive years, and signifies an ongoing commitment to producing positive patient outcomes. Only 334 centers nationwide achieved these benchmarks.

“Professionalism and a patient-centered approach are some of the key components of our continued success,” said Ricardo de Leon, MD, Medical Director of the Iredell Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center.

The Iredell Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Leading-edge treatments include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, debridement, application of cellular-based tissue or skin substitutes to the wound, offloading or total contact casts, biological and biosynthetic dressings, and growth factor therapies. The center is a member of the Healogics network of nearly 800 centers, with access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating more than 2.5 million chronic wounds.

“These awards show the hard work and dedication of our staff at the Wound Care Center,” said Ed Rush, President and Chief Executive Officer of Iredell Health System. “It’s a great honor to be the only center in the county to continuously receive these awards for multiple years, and we look forward to continuing that tradition for many years to come.”
