Dr. Jonathan Goodnight Joins Family Care Center of Taylorsville

Family Care Center of Taylorsville is pleased to welcome Dr. Jonathan Goodnight to the practice. Goodnight is a native of Taylorsville and returned to his home community after completing his medical training and family practice residency at East Tennessee State University, where he won multiple awards for teaching.
Goodnight is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians as well as the National Association of EMS Physicians. He has served as Medical Director for the Alexander County Health Department, Assistant Medical Director for Alexander County EMS and is active in training and emergency response for EMS personnel.
Goodnight has deep family roots in Taylorsville. His father and grandfather both worked as mechanics in town and operated a family-owned garage. His mother retired following a long career as a school teacher in the community. Goodnight says lessons from his family have helped to shape his approach to medicine.
"I think of myself as a combination of a coach and a mechanic," Goodnight said. "Some ailments need to be fixed by the mechanic with special parts and tools, like medication, while others can be addressed by the patient with my guidance as a coach."
