Hospital news | Sunday, December 31, 2017

Lung disease is the third-leading cause of death in Iredell County, yet people tend to brush off the warning signs, which include shortness of breath and a chronic cough. The American Lung Association says millions of people with lung disease are unaware that they have it. On January 15, experts from Duke Health's nationally-recognized lung transplant team will shed light on lung disease and treatment during a special presentation at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

The Better Breathers Club of Statesville will host Duke pulmonologist Omar Mohamedaly, MD and Donna Jones, BSN, MBA as they share the latest in treatment for lung disease and advancements in transplant technology. The event is open to the public and begins at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 15 in the Outpatient Services Building Community Classroom, 739 Hartness Road, Statesville.

The Better Breathers Club provides support and education for those living with lung disease, giving them tools they need to have a better quality of life. It meets the third Monday of each month, from 10:30 AM to noon in the Outpatient Services Building Community Classroom at Iredell Memorial. No reservations are needed.
