Iredell Health System Announces New Assistant VP of Nursing and Patient Care

Iredell Health System welcomes Cherie Smith as its new assistant vice president of nursing and patient care.
“Make the decision with the patient in mind, and you will never go wrong,” Smith said.
Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from South Carolina State University. She earned an MBA specializing in health care administration from Wayland Baptist University and a PhD in nursing from the University of Phoenix.
Smith most recently worked as an executive director of nursing at Moses Cone Health System in Greensboro, NC. She served as a nurse in the U.S. Air Force for 25 years and is a board member for The Servant Center serving homeless veterans.
Originally from Goldsboro, NC, Smith is married with three daughters and a grandson. She loves to travel, and her personal goal is to watch a football game in every NFL stadium.
