Iredell Health System Sleep Lab Partners with MedBridge Healthcare

Despite most people recognizing sleep as a critical part of living a healthy life, less than half of people say they would talk to their doctor if they thought they had a sleep problem. One in three Americans has a sleep disorder, but 95 percent of them remain undiagnosed and untreated.
Thanks to a new partnership with MedBridge Healthcare, Iredell Health System can provide patients with solutions for sleep program management, effectively diagnosing and treating sleep disorders.
People experiencing persistent fatigue, sleepiness, or exhaustion may be dealing with a sleep health issue. By assessing sleep quality, a physician and patient can personalize a plan to achieve the energy needed for an active lifestyle.
Warning signs that may indicate a serious sleep condition include snoring, daytime sleepiness, restless legs, morning headaches, gasping or choking episodes during sleep, depression, difficulty concentrating, and moodiness.
The Health System provides sleep diagnosis in its outpatient sleep lab for studies. Specialty trained technicians perform evaluations to test the quality and quantity of patients’ sleep. A sleep medicine specialist interprets the results to diagnose any condition and recommend the best course of treatment.
Testing is performed from 9 pm to 6 am or according to the patient’s needs. After a sleep study is completed, it is scored and forwarded to the sleep physician for interpretation. The final report is compiled and sent to the referring physician, who will discuss results with the patient.
Sleep studies are non-invasive and covered by most insurances including Medicare and Medicaid. The types of studies conducted include diagnostic sleep study, split night study, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) study, and home sleep testing.
