Iredell Memorial Welcomes New Director of Five North Unit

Iredell Health System is pleased to welcome Elaine Haney, CCRN, MSN, RN, as the new director of Iredell Memorial Hospital’s Five North Nursing Unit.
Haney has 30 years of experience in healthcare, working in various medical settings, including critical care, cardiac units, and in leadership roles. She is originally from Ohio where she helped start and establish two open-heart units, leading to comprehensive care for cardiac surgery patients.
Haney was always drawn to the medical field, originally hoping to be a cardiologist. Her plans changed when her mother had a stroke. She worked with her mother for six months, nursing her back to health. Although she had planned to become a physician after completing nursing school, once Haney had finished she realized her true passion was in nursing.
As the director of Five North, Haney will provide leadership and direction to the staff on the Five North unit. She hopes to motivate, inspire, and encourage them, especially during these difficult times, as many beds on the Five North floor are currently occupied by COVID-19 patients.
“At Iredell, my goal is to create an environment of patient satisfaction and employee satisfaction, leading to a sense of pride in your unit and hospital,” said Haney.
Haney earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio before receiving her Master of Science in Nursing, with a focus in leadership, from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, Utah.
In her free time, Haney enjoys spending time with her children and dogs.
